The idea for the World Dance Party surfaced at an Aging Your Way Gathering, organized by Senior Services. The gathering was part of a project designed to capture people’s input on an ideal community for everyone to grow old in, as well as to inspire citizens to act to improve their neighborhoods. One theme that arose was the lack of connections between elders and young people, and between neighbors of different ethnicities. The idea for a fun multicultural dance and potluck was born!

DRCC/TAG was part of the planning committee for the last couple of years, where up to 250 people have joined us in celebrating the diverse cultures in both the Rainier and Duwamish Valleys (read Crosscut’s article about the last WDP here).
