DRCC/TAG partnered with EPA’s Superfund Job Training Initiative to provide free river cleanup job training and placement assistance to qualified local residents.
Thank you to all who participated in the Duwamish Superfund Jobs Training Initiative. Over 60 people applied to the program and 14 participants were selected and graduated in June! Graduates completed 36hrs of pre-employment training as well as professional certifications including OSHA 10, HAZWOPER and CPR!
Graduates will receive six months of job placement support to facilitate the transition into career track positions in local environmental cleanup. Participating contractors are hiring for work on the Duwamish now. Several of our graduates have been selected for interviews and hired for positions working directly on this year’s cleanup actions.
We are excited for the upcoming opportunities for our graduates and can’t wait to see what roles they will play in the cleanup! Until then we will be working hard to keep the fires burning and looking for unique opportunities for graduate networking and local employment.
Let us know if you you’re interested in interviewing any of the graduates for local cleanup-related jobs. All employers are welcome to participate. Our graduates are ready to go to work!
