Community Action for a Renewed Environment (CARE)

Duwamish Valley Healthy Communities Project: a DRCC/TAG & EPA CARE Program Partnership

The Healthy Communities CARE Project will identify and prioritize community health concerns from a variety of environmental exposures and related impacts, and take action to improve the Duwamish community’s health. Funds from EPA’s CARE grant will be used to fund community-selected health improvement projects, as well as make recommendations to local agencies and entities for larger scale health actions to benefit local residents and workers.

Project Partners include non-profit organizations, government agencies, local businesses, and academic institutions, as well as more than two dozen local merchants participating in the Duwamish Dollars Program – an incentive/compensation program for volunteers who contribute their time and expertise to the project, while supporting local businesses.
